Monitoring implementation and objectives set is central to executing public policies at national, European and international level. With the main objective being to understand successes or lags, mechanisms and monitoring bodies, including the National Documentation Centre (EKT), collect and systematise information and data to be used in evidence-based policy making and by citizens in general.
As part of the country’s official statistics, EKT produces a set of indicators, used to monitor EU (Europe 2020, European Semester, the European Research Area) and international policies (Sustainable Development Goals) and which are published in Scoreboards (The European Innovation Scoreboard, The Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI).
At national level, EKT uses indicators to monitor national and regional Smart Specialisation Strategies, Operational Programme ‘Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation’ (EPAnEK) and a series of financial measures for early-stage scientists and researchers. The indicators reflect the status of implementation, enabling corrective and/or improvement measures, while contributing to documentation of their impact.
