In 2021, 20,034 scientific publications by Greek entities are recorded in international scientific journals, achieving the highest annual performance that has been observed over time for the entire period 2007-2021, but also the largest percentage increase. A significant increase is also recorded in the number of reports, which in the five years 2017-2021 amount to 843,597.

In the five-year period 2017-2021, the relevant impact indicators of the publications of Greek institutions exceed the global average of 1, in almost all scientific fields. The highest impact (relative impact index: 1.51) is recorded in the field "Medical & Health Sciences".

The quality indicators of the scientific publications of Greek institutions continue to exceed the world average

The impact indicator of the publications of Greek institutions (average of citations per publication) is constantly increasing throughout the period 2007-2021 and even continues to increase its lead compared to the average of EU and OECD countries. In the five-year period 2017-2021, publications by Greek institutions receive an average of 10.20 citations per publication, surpassing the EU (8.44) and OECD (8.22) average citations.
