The National Documentation Centre {EKT} provides the official statistics on Research, Development and Innovation in Greece, a task started in 2012 (Official Journal of Go1359/B/25.04.2012).

EKT performs statistical surveys and compiles the RDI statistics of the Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 995/2012 for Greece:

1.Statistics on Research and Development, (RD statistics) for expenditure and personnel involved in R&D activities

2.Government Budget Appropriations or Outlays on Research and Development / GBAORD

Data collection is conducted via electronic questionnaires through this website and is supported by Information Technology Systems developed by EKT.

The methodololgy used for conducting the statistical surveys, processing the data and producing the indicators follows the European guidelines and the Frascati, Oslo and Canberra Manuals.

The statistics are transmitted to Eurostat.

R&D Statistics – expenditure and personnel for R&D activities.

Data are collected from the entities which carry out R&D activities, by using questionnaires specifically designed for the four following different sectors:

a) HES – Higher Education Sector

b) GOV – Government Sector

c) BES – Business Sector Questionnaire for Research & Development Personnel and Expenditure-Business Sector

d) PNP – Private Non-Profit Sector

Statistics for Government Budget Appropriations or Outlays on Research and Development / GBAORD.

The survey records the Government Budget Appropriations or Outlays on Research and Development on a yearly basis. The data are collected from bodies funding RD activities (Ministries and Regions).

Community Innovation Survey

The survey utilises a model questionnaire proposed by Eurostat and translated into Greek to document all types of innovation and the innovative activities of a sample number of enterprises.
